YumTube: Mealtime Video Player

Play a parent-selected YouTube video with adjustable mouth-motion pause/resume, local watch history and a configurable mealtime timer.

Our take

Parents who choose both video content and viewing time

Consider YumTube only as a supervised video-playback control. It detects mouth movement, not eating or swallowing, and neither the developer demo nor this profile establishes a feeding benefit.

Keep in mind: No detection, child-use or playback test was performed. Lighting, positioning and face obstruction can affect results.

What you can do

  • Paste or share a YouTube link and reuse local watch history
  • Adjust movement sensitivity and the delay before pausing
  • Choose a 10–60-minute session and manually pause for a break
  • Use on-device mouth-motion processing after allowing camera access

Good for

  • Parents who choose both video content and viewing time
  • Investigating an adjustable movement-triggered playback control

Consider alternatives for

  • Measuring food intake, chewing counts or swallowing
  • A feeding intervention or unattended child use

Separate movement control from outcomes

Choose the video, set the timer and position the device so the mouth is visible. A motion-triggered pause is only a playback event; other mouth movements may resume the video. The guide explicitly says that eating or health improvements have not been established.

Limitations & considerations

  • No detection, child-use or playback test was performed. Lighting, positioning and face obstruction can affect results.
  • The original guide includes a family demo and Korean screens; the current store gallery now includes English promotional screens.
  • The App Store privacy label lists linked location, identifiers, usage and diagnostics; do not equate local camera processing with zero service data.

Privacy & permissions

The version-specific policy says camera frames and facial landmarks are processed in memory, are not stored or uploaded, and are not used for identity recognition. This is the publisher’s account, not a network audit.

YouTube receives playback/network information under its own terms. Optional usage analytics are separate from face data, and the current store privacy declaration is broader than the local-camera statement.
