Color Identifier: Color Picker
Read color names and codes from a camera or photo, collect palettes, and compare a saved reference with a later sample while keeping lighting limits visible.
Everyday color naming and collecting approximate references for design or decorating
Color Identifier is useful when you need a readable color name or a portable reference for a design or decorating decision. Its camera labels and saved-reference comparison serve different needs from a simple image eyedropper. Treat camera-derived matches and RAL suggestions as approximations, and check the current paywall: published prices and free-access boundaries are not fully consistent.
Keep in mind: Mobile saving limits, complete free feature boundaries and trial rules are unknown.

What you can do
- Identify colors through camera or photo and read names plus HEX, RGB and CMYK values
- Place readable color-name labels at selected scene positions in Colorblind Mode
- Save a reference and compare a later sample with a similarity result and lighting guidance
- Create palettes, convert and copy color codes, with licensed RAL lookup in the relevant paid plan
Good for
- Everyday color naming and collecting approximate references for design or decorating
- People who prefer readable color labels to distinguishing shades alone
Consider alternatives for
- Guaranteeing an exact paint formula, touch-up match or production-print color
- Correcting color vision or assuming every advertised feature is free
Choose a name, a code or a saved reference
Camera and photo picking can answer different questions: a readable name helps describe an object, while a sampled code is useful in a digital color workflow. Colorblind Mode places labels at selected scene positions while tracking is available; those positions do not follow moving objects. It provides color information rather than correcting color vision.
Compare Colors lets you save a reference and inspect a later sample beside it. The real product screenshot retains its Different color result and Lighting limited warning. Different cameras, illumination, exposure and surfaces can change the captured value; a named shade or RAL suggestion does not identify the original paint formula.
Separate the subscription sources
The official press kit marks US prices as confirmed November 2: standard access at $5.99 monthly or $29.99 yearly, and access with RAL lookup at $14.99 monthly or $49.99 yearly. The submission repeats those figures. The current store IAP list includes those price points alongside other entries, while the description still quotes $4.99 monthly and $19.99 yearly. We cannot infer which older offers remain available to a particular customer from that list.
The mobile app is free to download and contains advertising and subscriptions. Exact mobile free saving limits and the full plan-by-feature map are not established. The separate browser photo picker and code tools are free without sign-up; they are not evidence of unlimited free access to the mobile app.
Identify the product and platform correctly
The App Store seller is Irina Metelkina. The official press kit identifies Aleksei Metelkin as the developer, and the Android publisher is AppCraftingMinds. These source-specific names refer to the linked product; they should not be silently replaced with one inferred company identity.
Current iOS release 2.5.7, dated November 4, adds color comparison and requires iOS/iPadOS 16 or later. The press kit’s iOS 14 requirement is older. Google Play confirms Android availability and an October 30 update, but not a current public version number in the page checked. The publisher’s claim of RAL partnership is attributed, without independently verifying its licensing contract or per-query costs.
Editorial basis and images
The official website, press kit, current US App Store, Google Play and linked privacy documents were checked November 6, 2026. The three selected press images are the developer-supplied actual app screenshots, not the separately labeled Figma interface artwork on the same site. We did not test camera accuracy, scene tracking, subscription access or device parity.
Limitations & considerations
- Mobile saving limits, complete free feature boundaries and trial rules are unknown.
- The press kit’s dated standard/RAL subscription prices conflict with older amounts still in the store description; the IAP list also contains multiple price entries.
- Current iOS 2.5.7 requires iOS/iPadOS 16 or later, while the press kit still says 14 or later. Android’s public listing does not establish its current version number.
- The publisher confirms AR labels and comparison on both mobile platforms; cross-platform parity and scene tracking were not tested.
Privacy & permissions
The Apple disclosure lists identifiers and usage data used for tracking, and identifiers/usage data for advertising or analytics. The Google Play listing also declares ads and in-app purchases; privacy declarations differ by platform and remain developer-provided.
The linked policy covers the publisher’s apps broadly and discusses account, transaction, device and location information. It does not establish a precise Color Identifier-only processing map, so this guide makes no all-local or no-tracking claim. Review the policy and permission prompts before using camera/photo functions.
