Dayroad: Focus Timer

Set a focus timer, watch a pixel-art drive unfold and turn accumulated focus time into a Home you unlock yourself.

Our take

Study or work sessions where a visual timer and optional reward support getting started

Choose Dayroad when a visual setting and a small reward make starting a focus session more inviting. Set the time, let the drive run automatically, then inspect the Focus Journal rather than judge the session only by the scenery. Its permanent free-drive mode is separate from the 75-minute Focus Drive allowance. Continuing the current Japan Focus Drive needs a one-time pass, not a subscription.

Before you choose: The 75-minute Focus Drive allowance is cumulative. Free Drive stays free but does not award focus rewards.

Who it suits

  • Study or work sessions where a visual timer and optional reward support getting started
  • Reviewing named focus activities without signing up for a recurring timer subscription

When to choose something else

  • Website blocking or a guarantee that all distractions are prevented
  • Assuming Free Drive earns Stamps, or that enough Stamps automatically upgrade Home

Features & tradeoffs

Features below come from the linked provider documentation. The recommendations above are our editorial interpretation.

  • A configurable focus timer with automatic pixel-art driving and optional Focus Lock for selected apps
  • Focus Journal history, reusable activities, folders and analysis by weekday, time of day or session length
  • One Stamp for each 25 accumulated minutes of actual focus, spent manually on Home stages
  • On-device records, personal iCloud synchronization and user-controlled JSON export/restoration

Keep the task in front of the reward

Choose what you intend to work on and a duration you can use now. The automatic drive supplies a setting while the timer runs. A named activity makes the later history easier to interpret than an anonymous total. After the session, look at actual focused time and completion status.

The Journal can group activities into folders and show when sessions happened. These are records to reflect on, not proof that a visual timer increased productivity. The press screenshots use demonstration activities and figures, rather than measured results from our use.

Spend Stamps deliberately

Actual accumulated focus earns one Stamp per 25 minutes. Home growth is a separate action: save the required number and choose to unlock a stage. Free Drive does not earn those rewards. The 35-stage Japan Home also has its own completion rules, so do not assume rewards grow indefinitely.

Know what the pass buys

The 75-minute allowance belongs to Focus Drive across sessions. Once it is used, the current Japan Focus Drive is a one-time purchase; the trial does not turn into an automatic charge. Free Drive remains available without a time limit. The press kit gives a US $6.99 reference checked October 29, 2026; the current purchase sheet decides the amount.

Editorial basis

Official support, privacy, the English press kit and US App Store version 1.0.1 were reviewed November 2, 2026. Press-kit screenshots are real app UI used under its editorial reuse guidance, credited to Dayroad / Junho Kim; Journal data is illustrative. No timer-accuracy, blocking or synchronization test is claimed. This developer submission involved no payment or promised positive verdict.

Limitations & considerations

  • The 75-minute Focus Drive allowance is cumulative. Free Drive stays free but does not award focus rewards.
  • The current pass covers the Japan-themed Focus Drive; future regions may have separate purchase terms.
  • Focus Journal opens after the mailbox is unlocked at Home stage 1. Stamps must be spent manually.
  • Focus Lock needs Screen Time permission and does not block websites; notification and Live Activity behavior depends on system support and settings.

Documented features, attributed opinions and explicitly labeled hands-on observations are different kinds of evidence. We do not infer unmeasured performance or privacy guarantees.

Privacy & permissions

The provider describes device storage and a private CloudKit database for personal iCloud sync, rather than a developer-operated record server. Exporting a JSON file creates another copy wherever you choose to save it.

The privacy policy distinguishes purchase access and the locally retained free-trial usage counter from synchronized progress. Restoring a purchase or importing records does not reset the cumulative free allowance.
