Sensonym: Vocabulary Stories
Encounter vocabulary inside interactive stories, using phone movement, sound and touch to reveal words and revisit them in chapter reviews.
Learners who want a story-led vocabulary supplement and can comfortably use the relevant phone interactions
Consider Sensonym as a vocabulary supplement when a story and a meaningful action help you stay interested in practice. Check the story difficulty and try its interaction style before subscribing: a phone gesture can make a scene distinctive without proving that you will remember the word later. It is a different practice format, not an established replacement for conversation, grammar or a complete language course.
Keep in mind: The full current free-chapter/story catalogue, trial rules and cross-platform subscription entitlements are unknown; check the local purchase screen.

Good for
- Learners who want a story-led vocabulary supplement and can comfortably use the relevant phone interactions

Consider alternatives for
- A complete grammar, conversation or guaranteed vocabulary-retention course
- Assuming every interaction works conveniently in a public or noisy setting
Try the story-to-word sequence
The submitted example is The Dawn Loaf, a bakery mystery in which blowing toward the phone or wiping the screen introduces words through an action. The public catalogue and current stores confirm the story exists. Choose a passage whose reading level you can follow, inspect the revealed word and pronunciation, then use the chapter review to see what you can recall without the scene’s prompt.
The developer’s November 4 submission says the opening chapter is free without sign-up. Current public store copy says Premium unlocks the full collection but does not enumerate every free boundary. Treat that opening as an opportunity to inspect the format, not evidence that the entire library is permanently free.
What external reviewers observed
Kris Broholm’s September 22, 2026 Actual Fluency review describes trying Spanish and German. He liked the distinctive interaction and atmosphere, while finding public/noisy use awkward, beginner reading-language choices imperfect and the monthly price high for a supplement. These are his reported experiences before the current October release, not our test of version 1.8.3.
Language Learners Hub’s September 3 review describes roughly two hours with intermediate Spanish and a small next-day word-recall comparison. It found some gestures meaningful and others forced, and noted a slow opening sequence. That self-described small exercise cannot establish learning effects for a broader population. Your Daily German’s April introduction, meanwhile, largely gives the developer space to explain the product; it is not an independent current-version test.
Check access and processing separately
The current US purchase list shows Pro at $9.99 monthly or $49.99 yearly. The older terms quote euro prices and should not be substituted for a current regional purchase screen. Offline downloaded stories are a product claim; downloading, purchases and analytics are separate parts of the service.
Editorial basis
Official product information, US App Store version 1.8.3, Google Play, app-specific privacy and terms, and the dated external accounts were checked November 5, 2026. The gallery contains developer-published App Store composites with example progress, not our own learning results. No full-access offer was redeemed, no sensor session or retention experiment was performed, and no payment or positive verdict was promised.
Limitations & considerations
- The full current free-chapter/story catalogue, trial rules and cross-platform subscription entitlements are unknown; check the local purchase screen.
- Sensor support, recognition, optional tap alternatives and accessibility vary by interaction and device; none was tested here.
- Current iOS release 1.8.3 adds A Handful of Sky. The gallery shows official interface examples, not a play-through of the submitted The Dawn Loaf chapter or a guaranteed capture of every latest screen.
- Apple lists iPhone and compatible Apple silicon Mac/Apple Vision devices; a dedicated iPad or desktop adaptation was not established. Android is verified through its official store listing, but its version number is unknown.
Privacy & permissions
The App privacy policy says camera, microphone and motion input is processed locally without keeping sensor recordings. It separately describes RevenueCat subscription processing and PostHog events and session replay, including learning-progress events. Local sensor handling does not mean the whole product sends no data.
Older terms contain broader local-only wording. We retain that documentation difference rather than claim a network audit. Review the detailed app policy and relevant device permissions before enabling interactions; the website policy is a separate document.
