PetaNote

An English-language photo journal app that generates scrapbook-style pages from photos and a short note.

Our take

A visual memory page without starting from a blank canvas

Shortlist PetaNote when you want a generated visual memory page rather than arranging every element yourself. Choose a manual editor if exact placement matters; choose a diary if searchable, exportable records are the priority. A generated illustration is not a faithful replacement for an original photo.

Before you choose: Generation can reinterpret a scene. Check faces, text and factual details, and keep the source photos.

One moment, two versions

This developer-published breakfast example illustrates the kind of transformation being discussed. It is not our test, and the Chinese lettering does not demonstrate English output quality.

Who it suits

  • A visual memory page without starting from a blank canvas
  • People who prefer generated composition to arranging stickers

When to choose something else

  • A confirmed layered page editor or print-production workflow
  • Keeping the only copy of irreplaceable photos or factual documents

Features & tradeoffs

Features below come from the linked provider documentation. The recommendations above are our editorial interpretation.

  • Text-and-photo page generation
  • Multiple visual styles
  • Calendar and image-based review
  • Saving to Photos and sharing

Limitations & considerations

  • Generation can reinterpret a scene. Check faces, text and factual details, and keep the source photos.
  • The published style picker advertises 1-point and 3-point options, with some styles free for members. Actual per-generation point cost, retry charging and member quotas still need confirmation; membership is not assumed unlimited.
  • Layer editing, export resolution, watermark rules and whole-library backup are not established by the reviewed sources.
  • English is listed, but generated English text accuracy has not been measured here. The policy allows server/partner AI processing; retention periods and deletion procedures are not specified.

Documented features, attributed opinions and explicitly labeled hands-on observations are different kinds of evidence. We do not infer unmeasured performance or privacy guarantees.

Privacy & permissions

The English policy says drafts and journal materials are stored locally first. Basic journaling currently does not require account registration.

AI generation may send selected photos and text to the developer’s servers or partner AI providers. Local-first storage does not mean generation is offline.

The policy describes active submissions separately; approved submissions may appear on product pages or feeds. It does not establish a precise retention period, deletion procedure or named AI processors.

Product facts checked October 18, 2026. Independent and user perspectives, where available, are attributed above. Missing external coverage is not treated as a negative verdict.

  1. PetaNote · US App Store metadata

Apple US metadata lists PetaNote, English support, iPhone/iPad compatibility and developer-supplied capabilities. This is not independent testing.

  2. Petanote · English product page and showcase

Developer examples of photo-to-journal generation, not our results. The FAQ still mentions beta; the dated App Store listing is used for availability.

  3. PetaNote · English privacy policy

Policy retrieved October 18, 2026: local-first storage, AI processing on servers or partner services, and separately submitted public works. These are provider statements, not a network audit.
