Import clips, assemble a timeline, check the sound and export a finished iPad video.
LumaFusion
Step-by-step guide
The short answer
Start with three short clips, one title and a defined export target. Follow the linked LumaFusion reference guide for import, assembly and export, then check the finished movie outside the editor.

The reviewer treats LumaFusion as a route to more serious video editing on iOS than a basic movie app.

How to read disagreement
Different opinions can reflect different jobs, versions, devices or paid plans. We do not call a few comments “the consensus.” A consequential factual conflict that remains after checking those differences is a candidate for a focused hands-on test. A preference for one interface over another usually is not.
1. Prepare clips and a clear brief
Use footage you can publish, download the files fully and keep originals separately. Set a simple goal: a short introduction, two supporting shots and a closing title. Decide the viewing shape before editing; a landscape movie and a vertical social post require different framing decisions.
Record the iPad model, system version, available space and installed app version. Capture any purchase screen separately from the editor, including optional items. The guide should not imply that buying the base app includes every service or content library.
2. Create and assemble a small project
Use the platform-specific reference guide or in-app Help to locate project creation and media import. Match project choices to the intended output rather than accepting settings you do not understand. Add clips in story order, remove an obvious false start and keep the first cut deliberately simple.
Use the reference guide for your installed version rather than assuming an older screenshot has identical controls.
3. Add a title and make speech audible
Add one readable title and listen through any clip changes. If adding music, keep the spoken message intelligible; do not choose levels by looking only at waveforms. Avoid piling on effects while learning the import-to-export path. Save a second project version before experimenting with a complex edit.
An optional overlay can test whether a layered timeline is genuinely useful to you. It should not be added solely to justify buying a more complicated editor.
4. Export and check outside the app
Export the finished movie using explicit resolution and frame-rate choices suitable for its destination. Open the saved file in another player and inspect orientation, title placement, sound, final duration and the last frame. Retain a project backup separately so the edit can be revised.
If media is linked from external storage, record that dependency before disconnecting the drive. A movie that plays successfully does not prove its editable project contains all the source assets.
Limitations & considerations
- The $29.99 base app, Creator Pass and separately listed add-ons are distinct purchases.
- An exported movie does not prove that an editable project contains all linked external media. Keep source files and project backups.
Documented features, attributed opinions and explicitly labeled hands-on observations are different kinds of evidence. We do not infer unmeasured performance or privacy guarantees.
