PDF Extractor 1.02 Adds Word Conversion and Mac Support

The October update expands beyond text and pictures: editable documents, scanned-page recognition and a Mac workflow alongside iPhone and iPad.

The short answer

PDF Extractor 1.02 adds document conversion and extends its stated workflow to Mac as well as iPhone and iPad. Its useful new role is recovering content you want to edit—not replacing a complete PDF editor.

Side by side

Your next jobFormat to considerWhat to check
Rewrite a report Word (.docx) Reading order, paragraphs and image placement
Bring notes into a text-based workflow Markdown Headings, lists and image references
Reuse content in a browser-based workflow HTML Rendered output and linked assets
Move formatted text between editors RTF Formatting supported by the receiving app

What changed in the October 23 release

The current Apple metadata identifies version 1.02. Its release notes describe a refreshed interface and editable-document exports; the description explicitly includes Mac and resizable previews. That is a broader scope than the older iPhone/iPad image-extraction workflow covered on this site.

For someone who only needs a picture, conversion is unnecessary. For someone who needs to rewrite a paragraph, turning the whole page into a JPEG solves the wrong problem. The new formats matter because they let you choose an output that matches the next task.

A Mac and iOS workflow, not an automatic sync promise

You can now consider the app for both a desk-based Mac workflow and on-the-go use on iPhone or iPad, according to its updated description. A larger display can make inspecting an editable document more comfortable; that is a workflow consideration, not a measured speed advantage.

Keep the distinction between platform availability, purchase eligibility and file synchronization. They are different features. Install the current release on the device you intend to use and check its requirements and purchase screen rather than assuming one installation or payment answers all three questions.

Try a representative document before upgrading

The listing offers a three-page conversion allowance and a one-time full-access purchase rather than a subscription. Use a small document containing the layouts you actually handle. A plain letter tells you little about a report filled with tables.

For a long report, checking the first pages is not enough if a complicated appendix appears later. Do not pay on the assumption that an unexamined table or scan will convert perfectly.

What this does not make it

Conversion creates content to edit elsewhere. It does not by itself establish capabilities such as editing the original PDF’s objects, preserving interactive forms, redacting sensitive data or managing signatures.

If conversion is one small part of a broader editing workload, compare a full editor before switching. If recovering reusable text and images is the main job, a focused utility may be the more appropriate starting point.

Limitations & considerations

  • This coverage follows the version 1.02 listing, not a hands-on conversion benchmark. Earlier image-extraction observations do not establish this version’s Word or OCR quality.
  • Editable output is not a promise of identical pagination, tables, fonts or reading order. Proofread important text and retain the source PDF.
  • Mac support is stated in the current description. Check device-specific system requirements; this article does not establish Intel support, cross-device purchase restoration or automatic file sync.

Documented features, attributed opinions and explicitly labeled hands-on observations are different kinds of evidence. We do not infer unmeasured performance or privacy guarantees.
